Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star

Since Amita's first tooth has popped out, she has been a little more comfortable, which in turn has made her much more happy. We have enjoyed the additional smiles and sleep that this has brought with it!

When I was out shopping the other day, I saw this bib and I couldn't resist it. Amita is definitely the star of my blog... as well as the star of our days!! She helped make a fantastic t-shirt for Daddy for Father's Day. He will be showing it off at church this morning.

No sign yet of tooth number two, but we're led to believe that it won't be too far behind the first one. Amita is still exhibiting many of the signs of teething, so maybe this week she will have a nice pair of pearly whites to show off!

This is the newest face that Amita has been making. She likes to pull her lips in and suck on them.

Tooth Fairy

I don't know if the Tooth Fairy brings teeth or if she only takes them away, but at any rate, a tooth has arrived at our house! You can see the tiny white sliver on Amita's lower left gum (you may need to click on the picture to enlarge it for a better look). You can definitely feel it with your fingers and she is always more than ready to chomp down on them these days. We're hopeful that some of the recent "excitement" at our house will now ease up and we can get back to normal... or at least our usual routine!

Amita, Amita, Quite Contrary

This past weekend was a blur - both from busyness and from a lack of sleep! Amita's teething made consecutive hours of sleep a distant memory. And during the day, she would not even settle for a nap. Needless to say, all three of us were exhausted. But that didn't stop us from planting our garden. It took much longer than last year as we needed to keep stopping to tend to Amita, but we managed to finish most of it. And after an exhausting weekend, Amita has rewarded us with two good nights of sleep since. We'll gladly take it!

Mama and Amita admiring their hard work.

Daddy still had enough strength in his arms to hold Amita after a weekend of tilling, hauling and burying railroad ties, and shoveling plant beds

The whole family... relieved that the chores are finally done!

Teething Makes Us Sleepy

Don't let the smiles and calm demeanor in the pictures fool you... Amita has started teething and it has been a challenge for all of us. She hasn't been sleeping well for over a week (yes - this started when mama was home alone with her while daddy was at the Indy 500) and starting on Thursday, she began waking up in pain multiple times each night.

We are all surviving the days going on very little sleep. We're anxious for those pesky teeth to poke through and give us all some relief! But in the meantime, we're working on distracting her and entertaining her... and some of the time, it even works!

Helping mama open the mail.

Hanging with daddy and Baxter.

Celebrating the start of summer and baseball season (no we still haven't watched a game at our house, but she can root, root, root for the home team nonetheless!).

Holding paws with Baxter - the amazing part is that he stayed put!

Azzy catching up on his sleep... the extra action at night must have him worn out too!
