Feels Like Summer

It was in the 80's yesterday, which means we finally got to test out some of Amita's summer gear (and I even had to dig out a pair of shorts for myself - the flops were still handy from January when that was all that fit on my swollen feet!). We got outside a little bit and Amita accompanied me to the hair salon, where her phony ponies were a huge hit! Besides the weather, our other bit of excitement happened when I got Amita to laugh again. I was showering her with kisses and she found that hilarious and let out a big laugh. What an awesome sound!

Good to Grow

Amita went to the doctor on Thursday and she officially weighs more than Azrael, but less than Baxter. She topped the scales at 13lbs 11oz and 25 inches long! She continues to grow and change in amazing ways in such a short amount of time. But she also continues to be healthy, which is such a wonderful blessing.

The doctor remarked to me on Thursday that it was hard to believe that Amita was ever colicky, because she was so laid back at our appointment. Well... Daddy would believe it! She more than convinced him on Friday! But they made it through and even had some smiles together.

I managed to assemble a jumperoo for Amita this weekend. She LOVES this apparatus!

The Laugh Factory

It has been yet another busy week at Bubb's hub. The whole family continues to battle a cold that just will not go away. At any given time over the past 2 weeks, at least one of us has been sniffling. But that hasn't put a damper on Amita's spirit (or energy, for that matter!). We got to experience the joy of her first laugh on Sunday. It was amazing, wonderful, and hilarious... but even though we've tried plenty, we can't seem to recreate the magic to get her to laugh again. We will continue to try until she rewards us with another giggle, though. And it will be totally worth all the effort!

First Easter

Amita celebrated her first Easter by wearing a retro outfit that belonged to Mom as a baby. She also donned her faux pony tails for the event and the combination of those two things made her the belle of the ball at church! She made quite the splash and everyone wanted a peek at our little cutie!

We had to wake her up early so we could get to church and help pack up the homeless families that had been staying with us during holy week. And Amita took a long nap during all the action so Mom and Dad could get their chores done and then she sat absolutely quiet during the ENTIRE service (something she hasn't done since week 2!)!!!! It was a fantastic day for all of us!

Mr. Mom

Aaron got more than he bargained for this weekend - he had to be dad... AND mom! I ended up sick with an infection (102.5 degree fever and hallucinated that I had a loaf of bread for a head) and Amita had her first cold. That meant that dad had his hands full taking care of his two girls. He did a great job, but he sure seemed relieved to go to work today!

Amita helped with the dusting this week. I guess we'll have to start paying an allowance now!

Weekend Update

It was an exciting week in the Bubb household. We survived our first week of me back to work and Amita in day care. Everyone did as well as they could, but we were all running on a little less sleep and a little more stress than we've had in the recent past.

Then, in case that excitement wasn't enough, we decided to take Amita on her first road trip ever! We drove to Minneapolis to visit my brother, sister-in-law and niece. We had a blast hanging out and reacquainting the girls who haven't seen each other in 11 weeks! Amita was also able to test out some new fun toys (sorry again about all the poop on the Jumperoo!). It looks like mom and dad may need to do a little shopping.

Amita was so exhausted from all the excitement at day care that she fell asleep on the 5 minute car ride to go vote. We actually had to wake her up to eat and put her to bed that night!

Stormy Day

Spring has sprung, sort of, and it has brought with it some frightful weather! We've had some serious rain storms and wind over the past 2 days. We even got so much hail on Sunday that our grass turned white (for what felt like the millionth time this year!). Fortunately, Amita was able to sleep with all the thunder and lightning last night - a good thing since the blinds for her bedroom won't be installed until Thursday! And especially convenient since today was my first day back to the "real world" and my alarm went off awful early...

But given the conditions outside, it's a good thing that the Michie's sent Amita her first Stormy Kromer hat to help her battle the elements in style. For those that don't know, the hats are made in the UP and in addition to being stylish and functional, they have quite the history.
