Celebrate Good Times

The holiday season is upon us! Yesterday was St. Urho's Day, a Finnish holiday, so Amita was sporting her purple and green to celebrate.

Today is St. Patrick's Day and although she can't claim any Irish ancestry, it's still fun to celebrate a wee bit. And in case all these holidays aren't enough, the weather has been gorgeous and we've been out in the stroller the past 3 days, which is definitely reason to party!

Finally, Aaron and I managed to get Ally Total Fitness assembled and ready to go over the weekend (with a little help from our dear friend Jodie!). Now we can lift weights, use the elliptical and watch our fitness DVDs downstairs. Since Saturday, the gym has gotten a lot of use. Even the cats got a workout as they chewed off a corner of the new flooring! A little bitter apple spray has cured that problem and they are back to sleeping 23 hours a day.

Furry Friend

Azrael has finally decided that Amita isn't going anywhere (although, I think he'd still offer to pay the gypsies to take her if they stopped by...), so he is learning how to share me with her. He has now found a way to sit on my lap while I nurse her, so he and Amita are back to back. And when we have play time on the loveseat, Azzy joins in by sitting on my lap and taking it all in.

Amita seems as interested in Azrael as he is in her. She watches him move around, especially when he's squirming getting his rubbies.

This is Amita using her play mat. It's not a perennial favorite yet, so I think the cats have logged more hours on this apparatus than she has.

Darling Diva

After spending Saturday with Grandpa and Grandma Bubb and Monday and Tuesday with Grandpa and Grandma Morehouse, I was worried that Amita was going to get spoiled. She definitely had a diva moment today... she required two wardrobe changes! But mostly, I think all the excitement of bouncing with Grandma and riding horsey with Grandpa wore her out because she has done more sleeping today than usual.

This happy picture was taken right before one of the wardrobe malfunctions of the day.
Wearing her turtle jammies from Uncle Dave & Aunt Sandra. Yes, her feet fill up the entire footie already!

Classic Amita attitude!

Don't come any closer!!

Rockin' her monkey sweatsuit that matches Cousin Piper's!

Scary Feet

Today Amita was a bit of a grouch, so I put on her monster booties to match her mood. She seemed to really like them... and they definitely crack me up! I am also aware that her outfit in these pics doesn't really match. There was a diaper issue halfway through the day, so long story short, we grabbed the next pair of pants in line.

As you can see from the photo below, Amita was not terribly inclined to pose for mom today.

But somehow, she managed to stay calm just long enough for me to get a few shots. Then it was back to her monster attitude!!

Devil's Haircut

Today's post is not about Amita because not everything is about her. 99% of everything might be... but not everything! Two years and two months ago, I started growing out my hair. I wasn't sure how long I would be able to stand it, but once it reached critical mass, I decided that I might as well continue until it was long enough to donate. Fast forward to now and that's what I ended up doing yesterday.

I will stop the story right here and point out that this is not a new mommy haircut! This has been in the works for multiple years... long before Miss Amita was even a glimmer in our eyes. It just so happens to coincide with her arrival.

Anyhoo... my hair was actually long enough to donate a few months ago, but we were busy with tending to a newborn, so a cut didn't really fit into the schedule. Luckily for me, Amita was agreeable to me getting a haircut and was reasonably well behaved during my appointment (see... it all eventually comes back to her). So now I am back to being short and sassy... and my haircut matches that personality!

One Week

It's been a busy week at the Bubb house and the blog has taken a back seat. We've spent much of this week moving Amita to her bedroom. The diaper changing supplies are now upstairs (mom and dad are going to drop a little weight as a result!) and she is now sleeping in her crib at night. No more bassinet in our bedroom.

We've been mostly successful with the move, although it has caused a few nights of interrupted sleep (we're used to her sleeping a full 8 hours or more), so mom has been napping during the day instead of updating the blog. But I didn't want it to go more than a week without posting, so here are a whole bunch of Amita pics. I know there's a lot, but who wouldn't want that many of the cutest baby in the whole world... at least as voted on in our house!

Just chillin'...
All bundled up and loving it!
There's no question who's the boss!
The look on her face right before she makes her bird sounds (the predecessor to crying)!
What choo talkin' bout, Willis?

Fighting Weight

We got great news at the doctor's tonight... Amita has gained a full pound in 2 weeks! She tipped the scales at a whopping 9lbs 4oz. When the doctor saw that, he told us that whatever we're doing, we should keep doing it! Her weight gain is no longer a concern and she appears to be thriving. What a blessing (and a relief!)!! So with that, here are a few funny faces from Amita this week.

It's hard to capture her smiles on film, but she is smiling more and more each day.

This surprised look made me laugh.

Blah-lah-lah-lah-lah-lah!
