Mr. Fix-It
Last fall, Aaron had a bit of an incident with a chair, that left us short one chair in our dining room. It was working ok, until we needed to move Amita to a booster seat to make room for Ansel in the high chair (sharing wasn't working out... Amita has grabbed the high chair and yelled, "Get out baby!", while Ansel is eating in it). The above picture is the only before picture I have... basically, the chair cracked completely in two (in two places!), which explains why the chair broke, causing Aaron to fall through the seat, hitting his chest on the back of the chair and crashing to the ground with a box of glass items we were putting in storage, causing him to get a bruised sternum, hence the trip to urgent care.
At any rate, we picked up a few supplies at the local hardware store and got to work. Lucky for me, with only one kid to watch during the Indy 500 I had a lot of "free time" to remove the fabric and padding from the chair, so it was ready for fixing when Aaron returned from Indiana.
We measured and cut a new board, using a few pieces of scrap lumber, then we stapled the fabric over the padding and voila! A fully functioning chair!! We impressed ourselves with how handy we turned out to be... I'm already looking forward to our next project together!
Here's Aaron testing out the "new" chair. I think our re-engineering has made it much more sturdy than before!

Indy 500
We had an exciting Indy 500. Ansel was able to wear a retro t-shirt that used to belong to both Amita and Aaron. He and I had fun hanging out just the two of us while Amita was on a field trip to Nana & Papa's and Aaron was on a field trip to Indianapolis. It was nice to have some quiet and just enjoy each other's company.
And when Amita returned home, she was thrilled to get a new Indy car for her car collection. Dada picked one up at the track (polesitter Ed Carpenter). She likes to race it and make the Indy car noise!

Ticket to Ride
It's been another busy week at the Bubb household. Ansel had his 6-month checkup and he continues to be healthy and robust! The doctor says he looks great (mama could have told you that!) and that he is developing exactly as he should be. Such great news!
We also had the chance to take Amita to a carnival at our local Piggly Wiggly. She got to ride on some rides, meet the Pig mascot, and of course, help Dada buy groceries! She talked about it for days afterwards!!
Ansel made friends with Azrael this week. Azzy decided his need for attention/love was greater than his dislike of a baby, so while I was holding Ansel, Azzy climbed on my lap. Ansel was thrilled... he got to "pet" Azzy a whole bunch (basically, this meant he pulled out lots of fur!). But Azzy stayed put and purred through the whole adventure. Maybe Azrael will find he likes babies after all???
Here's Amita riding the train at the carnival.
Meeting the giant pig... surprisingly, she wasn't afraid of him at all!!
Ansel petting his furry best friend.
Azzy even laid on the floor with his buddy and tried to play with Ansel's rings... that is until Ansel reached out and yanked on Azzy's fur coat! Then Azzy moved himself outside of Ansel's big wingspan!!
Aaron heading to the Indy 500. Should be an exciting weekend!!

Spring Fling
We have been enjoying and trying to take advantage of our recent spring weather... although this past weekend was almost like winter again! Today it was a mother's day miracle: we made it to 9:00am church! The kids were looking super cute and they were both still in good enough humor afterwards to pose with mama! I couldn't ask for more!!
And now a photo diary of what we've been up to...
Amita modeling one of her summer dresses. She was very excited to try on all of her summer outfits to see what still fits from last year!
Ansel in one of his few summer outfits. The snaps have gotten pretty tight on this one over the past 2 weeks! Hopefully, I will find some good summer outfits at a garage sale soon...
Both of the kids hanging out and enjoying the warm weather.
Ansel sitting up on the couch. He still needs some assistance sitting, but he is getting stronger every day. I especially enjoyed his little tummy poking out in this pic!
Amita and Mama wearing big hats for the Kentucky Derby. We had a lot of fun watching the horses on TV.
Ansel hit a milestone recently: He started eating solid food. He got the hang of it pretty quick and is now happily gobbling down a full 1/2 cup of food a day (in addition to all his other feedings!). I can't wait to see what he weighs at his 6-month checkup!
Amita asked to hold Ansel, so I put him on her lap. I think she regretted her decision almost immediately. I totally get it... he's hard to hold on my lap for long periods too!
Here's Ansel reading his first book all by himself.
Ansel and Dada before church. Such handsome fellows!
And here is evidence of some of our other spring work. We have the patio ready for hanging out and Amita was thrilled to have her kitchen back upstairs after the long winter in our basement.
I'm hoping the new planters draw the eye up toward the house and away from our still patchy lawn. We definitely have more work to do in that arena!
The apple trees that we planted in our back yard. I can't wait until we're making applesauce out of the fruits from these trees!
