Mr. Fix-It
Last fall, Aaron had a bit of an incident with a chair, that left us short one chair in our dining room. It was working ok, until we needed to move Amita to a booster seat to make room for Ansel in the high chair (sharing wasn't working out... Amita has grabbed the high chair and yelled, "Get out baby!", while Ansel is eating in it). The above picture is the only before picture I have... basically, the chair cracked completely in two (in two places!), which explains why the chair broke, causing Aaron to fall through the seat, hitting his chest on the back of the chair and crashing to the ground with a box of glass items we were putting in storage, causing him to get a bruised sternum, hence the trip to urgent care.
At any rate, we picked up a few supplies at the local hardware store and got to work. Lucky for me, with only one kid to watch during the Indy 500 I had a lot of "free time" to remove the fabric and padding from the chair, so it was ready for fixing when Aaron returned from Indiana.
We measured and cut a new board, using a few pieces of scrap lumber, then we stapled the fabric over the padding and voila! A fully functioning chair!! We impressed ourselves with how handy we turned out to be... I'm already looking forward to our next project together!
Here's Aaron testing out the "new" chair. I think our re-engineering has made it much more sturdy than before!
